He attended the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1984 to 1989), followed by a legal practice course at ICADE, received his diploma in comparative law from the Strasbourg faculty of comparative law, and received his diploma of advanced studies (DEA) and Masters degree from the faculty of legal and social sciences of Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. Roman Gil Alburquerque also received a diploma in negotiating techniques from the Harvard Law School and followed a senior management programme (SMP) at IE Business School.
He is a board member of the Madrid Bar Association, an institution where he has conducted training courses for lawyers. He is also an occasional lecturer in employment law practice at the faculty of law of the Universidad Carlos III, school of social work of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, IE Business School and other institutions, and a speaker at events of various lawyers' associations, including the International Bar Association (IBA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Europaisches und Internationales Arbeits- und Sozialrecht (EIAS) and regularly publishes papers on his field of legal specialisation.
