Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr Vergne was a partner at a leading French law firm, where he focused on French, EU and international employment and labour law, and represented clients before courts and various administrative bodies having jurisdiction on labour matters. He became a partner at Morgan Lewis in 1999, where he also advises on individual and collective aspects of industrial and corporate reorganisations, social security and litigation connected to labour disputes.
Mr Vergne is admitted to practice in Paris. Morgan Lewis's labour and emploment practice has been awarded The American Lawyer magazine's Litigation Department of the Year - Labor and Employment Law Award (finalist 2004, winner 2006, finalist 2008, and finalist 2010). The practice is listed in the highest tier for National Labor and Employment Practice in Chambers USA 2009, and is ranked number one for "Most Prestigious" labour and employment practice, Vault 2008 (Associate Survey). He is also listed in Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers (2006 & 2007), Chambers Europe: Europe's Leading Lawyers for Business (2007 and 2010), Guide to the World's Leading Labour & Employment Lawyers 2007 (Expert Guides). Mr Vergne is Highly Recommended for labour and employee benefits, PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook 2008.
Mr Vergne received his Maîtrise de droit, and his Diplôme de l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (section "service public") in 1980, his DEA in English and American law in 1983, and his LLM from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a Fulbright Scholar in 1983-84.
Mr Vergne is fluent in French and English.
