Jeff S Liebmann is a partner in Sidley's New York office. For over 30 years, he has practised exclusively in the insurance, corporate, restructuring and insolvency areas. He has represented insurance companies (property-casualty and life; stock and mutual), insurance holding companies, investment banks, financial advisers, commercial banks, private equity funds, financial guarantors, insurance agencies and brokers, credit card companies, insurance markets, insurance regulators, guaranty associations, insurance company receivers and creditor committees in a broad array of insurance matters. These matters include traditional insurance company mergers and acquisitions, non-traditional insurance mergers and acquisitions (involving features such as complex reinsurance structures, reinsurance pooling and depooling, sales out of rehabilitation, mutual holding companies, mutual/mutual mergers, policyholder dividend issues, hostile offers, affiliate transactions and reserve guarantees), sales and purchases of insurance blocks of business and divisions (generally via reinsurance or renewal rights), traditional capital market financings, closed block securitisations, triple-x securitisations (for insurers, financial guarantors and initial purchasers), embedded value securitisations, contingent capital transactions, demutualisations, mutual holding company conversions, surplus note transactions, reinsurance side-cars, reinsurance treaties and contracts of all types, agency captive programmes, international reinsurance pooling and insurance insolvency matters (including rehabilitation and liquidation plan design for receivers; counselling creditors, affiliates and guarantee funds).

Mr Liebmann is an associate member of the Society of Actuaries. He received his AB (cum laude) from Princeton University in 1971 and his JD (cum laude) from Harvard Law School in 1978. He is admitted in New York.
