Volker Triebel, a partner of Hogan Lovells and its predecessor firm from 1985 until 2008, has more than 30 years of experience in German and English commercial, company and arbitration law. He has led more than 100 corporate transactions. He has been involved in more than 150 arbitration cases, both as counsel and arbitrator, most of them with an international aspect, also in disputes with Russian and CIS companies. He has been dealing with arbitrations governed by LCIA, ICC, Vienna and Stockholm rules and German DIS rules as well as ad hoc arbitrations. In 2007 Chambers Global Guide Editorial described him as "an arbitration specialist of superlative intelligence."
Volker Triebel holds a Doctor of Laws from the University of Munich. He also studied at Oxford University (Jesus College as scholar of Volkswagenwerk Foundation). He did his pupillage in 1 Essex Court. He was formerly the German member of the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC in Paris. He is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, and has been an honorary legal adviser to the British Consul General in Düsseldorf since 1983.
Volker Triebel has published widely on German, English and also Russian commercial, company and arbitration law.
