Biography: Insurance & Reinsurance

Founding partner Steve Stieber specialises in professional liability, Directors and Officers liability, class action, general liability and property coverage, municipal liability, environmental liability and toxic torts.

Steve is recognised in the publication, Best Lawyers of Canada for his work in insurance law, Directors and Officers liability, and construction law. He has been selected as one of the world's pre-eminent insurance and reinsurance lawyers in Who's Who Legal. He has attained the highest rating in legal liability and ethical standards in Martindale Hubbell Lexis Nexis.

He has written extensively on Directors and Officers liability insurance, general and professional liability, and litigation management.

Steve has lectured at and chaired liability and insurance seminars for the Law Society of Upper Canada; Canadian Bar Association; Ontario Association of Architects; Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants; Insight Educational Services; The Canadian Institute; Institute for International Research; Municipal Engineers Association; Southam Publications; Toronto Construction Association; Insurance Institute of Ontario; Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association; Defense Research Institute; Canadian Defence Lawyers; and the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys.

Steve is the recipient of the Ontario Bar Association's 2009 Award for Excellence in Insurance Law.

Steve graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Civil Law degree in 1970 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1971.
