Before opening the Brussels office of Salans in 2010, Edward was a partner with other prominent international law firms in Brussels. Prior to that he served as first secretary to the Russian Mission to the European Union (from 1994 to 2000).

Edward is recognised as one of the leading international trade lawyers in Europe and the world with substantial experience in issues of global trade and investment, cross-border commercial regulations and international trade policy. He has in-depth experience with WTO, EU and Russian trade and competition laws and practice, trade policy and international trade and investment negotiations, including those on trade liberalisation and WTO accession. Edward's authoritative counsel to clients on issues of international trade and commerce, as well as competition law, reflects a valuable combination of legal skill and knowledge, broad economic understanding and well-informed diplomatic insight.

Edward represents many major Russian and international exporters and advises national governments with a special focus on trade negotiations, trade defence investigations, competition aspects of trade restricting measures, sectoral trade and integration agreements (including the Customs Union between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus), market access and various WTO issues.
