In 18 years of European and emerging markets practice, Mr Kumleben has advised on financings or other transactions for companies or governments in over 25 countries. His transactions have included groundbreaking capital markets transactions in many European and African emerging markets. His work spans a range of industries, with particular emphasis on financial institutions, natural resources and healthcare. He was a member of staff of the Brady Commission, established by President Reagan to investigate the 1987 stock market crash.
Mr Kumleben is listed as a leading lawyer in several legal industry publications, including: Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business; Chambers Europe; Chambers UK; IFLR's Expert Guide to the World's Leading LawyersBest of the Best; Legal Media Group's Expert Guide to the World's Leading Capital Markets Lawyers; Practical Law Company's Cross-border Finance: Secured Lending Handbook; and Law Business Research's The International Who's Who of Capital Markets Lawyers.
Mr Kumleben received his BA from the University of Cape Town in 1976, his LLB from the University of Natal, School of Law in 1978, his BA from University College, University of Oxford in 1981, and his JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1982. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York City Bar. He became a partner in 1988 and is admitted to the State of New York.
