Biography: Competition

Aidyn Bikebaev is a co-founder of Sayat Zholshy & Partners, where he was head of the firm for eight years. Mr Bikebaev is a well-known authority in the field of competition and antitrust law.

In 2007, Mr Bikebaev was appointed chairman of the Kazakhstan government antimonopoly agency, and also acted as advisor to the prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He rejoined Sayat Zholshy & Partners' team in October 2008. Mr Bikebaev has had vast experience in representing various international companies and holdings in matters related to antitrust law.

Mr Bikebaev is a member of the Governing Council of the Association of Taxpayers of Kazakhstan and an arbitrator of the Kazakhstan International Court of Arbitration. According to an open voting results of the 4th and 5th Forums of Corporative Lawyers the antitrust team of Sayat Zholshy & Partners headed by Mr Bikebaev was named the Antitrust Team of Year 2009 and 2010 in Kazakhstan. He speaks Kazakh, Russian and English.

Mr Bikebaev has had over 40 research articles published in leading periodicals and professional journals and is the author of a unique Kazakhstani monograph; Competitive (Antitrust) Law and Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
