Mariana has counselled multilateral credit agencies and leading American and European commercial banks in the financing of major economic conglomerates in Colombia, in the energy, beverage, cement, cellular, textile, financial and chemical industries. She has also acted as local counsel for several foreign and local banks and local companies in the most important debt restructurings in Colombia; she has been responsible for the structuring, drafting and negotiation of loan agreements and securities.
Recently, she has participated in the design of derivatives and structured products for financial institutions and institutional investors. She has dealt with many operations in capital markets, especially in bond and securities issues in the local markets and under Rule 144A/ Reg S markets. Mariana recently processed the necessary approvals for the opening of the local financial institutions of two major multinational banks.
Mariana received her JD from Universidad Javeriana, where she also obtained and a graduate degree in Insurance Law. Her native language is Spanish and she is fluent in English.
