Biography: Environment

Peter Briggs has over 20 years experience in the practice of environment and planning law. He represents government agencies and major corporations across a wide range of industry sectors.

He advises on complex environment and planning, environmental impact assessment, contamination, heritage, climate law and related issues which arise in major infrastructure and construction projects, corporate/M&A and real estate transactions. He has also conducted high-profile environment and planning litigation in the Land and Environment Court as well as other state and federal courts.

Over a number of years, Peter has developed expertise in resolving disputes and conducting litigation about land and groundwater contamination, and advising clients about the investigation and remediation of high risk contaminated sites. Peter also helps clients develop strategies for the effective and safe acquisition, disposal and redevelopment of contaminated sites.

Peter helps clients obtain approvals for major resources and infrastructure projects and advises on approvals strategies.

Peter also advises clients on carbon reporting and climate change risk issues.
