Martín is a former president of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) (since November 2006); member of the International Association for the Intellectual Property Teaching and Research (ATRIP); and former president of Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI) and of the Mexican Group of the International Association for the Protection of the Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
He is a member of the WIPO panels on trademarks, domain names and arbitration disputes, and of the Independent Film and TV Association (IFTA), and a former coordinator of the Mexican Bar Association. He is also a collaborator on various national and international publications specialising in intellectual property, and a lecturer and speaker on intellectual property at various national and foreign universities.
Martín graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana, and has a Masters degree in comparative law from the University of Illinois. He is currently a candidate for a doctorate in law from the Universidad Panamericana. He speaks Spanish and English.
