John has represented parties in over 80 international arbitral proceedings seated in Asia, Europe and North America ranging from multimillion to multibillion US dollar disputes, most of which have proceeded through to the final hearing stage and concluded with a final award by the arbitral tribunal. He has had the opportunity to work side-by-side with some of the luminaries of the field (all of them listed in this literature), and has earned their respect through his incisive instincts and effective strategies.
John's experience is extensive, ranging across the spectrum of institutional rules (eg, the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC, JCAA, AAA (ICDR), KCAB, ICSID and the arbitration rules of UNCITRAL) and involving a wide range of commercial industries, including construction, consumer retail, automobile manufacturing, financial services, telecommunications, private equity, steel manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and petrochemical industries, to name a few.
He has been listed repeatedly as a leading arbitration practitioner in Chambers Asia (2008-2011), Asialaw Leading Lawyers (2008-2009), and in the Global Arbitration Review's Who's Who Legal (2007-2012). Earlier this year, John was included in GAR's exclusive '45 under 45' list.
After being educated at the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University School of Law, John served as a federal law clerk for the Honorable Kathryn C Ferguson, USBJ prior to joining BKL.
