Rahmat has been advising both international and national clients on all aspects of mining, including contracts of work, mining authorisations and mining business permits (IUPs), mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, project financing, land acquisitions, forestry, environmental protection, regional governance and litigation since 1984 and has earned the distinguished reputation as one of Indonesia's pre-eminent mining lawyers.
Rahmat is currently assisting clients and industry players to understand the implications of the new mining law and its recently issued implementing regulations.
Rahmat is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars and a lecturer at the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Law. He is a member of the Indonesian Mining Association, the Australian Mining and Petroleum Lawyers Association, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, the International Bar Association's section on environment, energy, resources, and infrastructure law (SEERIL) and the mining law committee of SEERIL.
Rahmat is a graduate of the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Law and holds a Master of Law (LLM) from the University of Virginia School of Law.
