Mr Shah is well known for his expertise on advisory, policy and controversy issues related to domestic and international taxation in India. Mr Shah is also actively engaged on various advisory and transactional issues in the areas of corporate and commercial transactions, real estate, media and international trade laws. Mr Shah has been named one of India's leading lawyers in the fields of taxation, trade laws, corporate transactions and media, by Legal 500 and by Chambers Asia, for the years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. International Tax Review has named him as being amongst the 200 Leading Tax Lawyers in the world and he is featured in the International Tax Directors Handbook for the years 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Mr Shah was also featured by India Today, January 2000 edition in a listing of 50 Indians for the Next Millennium. Mr Shah has been named amongst the 100 Leading Tax Lawyers in the world by the Who's Who Legal for corporate tax in 2009 and 2010.
Mr Shah has been appointed to various expert committees formed by the Indian Ministry of Finance and the Indian Ministry of Commerce on issues related to the introduction of presumptive taxation for the gems and jewellery sector, the introduction of goods and services tax (GST) and the export of services.
Mr Shah was a member of the Indian Commerce Minister's core negotiating team at the WTO ministerial conferences in Seattle, (Novemer, 1999) and Cancun, (September, 2003) as a nominee of Assocham.
