Besides his activity as a tax practitioner, Pascal Hinny is a member of the Fribourg Faculty of Law where he teaches Swiss and international taxation. He serves as a member of the tax chapter of the Swiss Fiduciary Chamber, of the direct tax group of Confédération Fiscal Européenne (CFE), Brussels, of the tax group Germany-Austria-Switzerland (D-A-CH), Berlin and is a board member of Swiss Association of Tax Law Professors (SATLP). In 2008, he was general reporter to the IFA congress in Brussels (New tendencies in tax treatment of cross-border interest of corporations). He also regularly contributes articles on tax issues to technical journals (a list of articles is posted on the Lenz & Staehelin website at www.lenzstaehelin.com and on the University of Fribourg website at www.unifr.ch/steuerrecht).
Pascal Hinny graduated from St Gallen University in 1990 and obtained a PhD from St Gallen University in 1995 with a thesis on international tax law. He studied at the London School of Economics LSE (LLM Tax) in 2001. He has been admitted to the Bar in Schaffhausen in 1995 and in 1998 he qualified as a certified tax expert.
