His professional background includes practical training with the Brazilian Mission for the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland and the General Coordination of Disputes of the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations in Brasília, Brazil. As part of those programmes, he conducted research and drafted reports on relevant trade matters involving Brazil, and participated in several trade disputes and WTO meetings.
Mr Pupo holds both a law degree and an LLM in International Law from the University of São Paulo Law School, with a thesis on circumvention of anti-dumping duties. He also earned an LLM with distinction in International Legal Studies and a certificate in WTO studies from Georgetown University Law Center, where he joined the Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL) as a fellow.
He often lectures in the area of international trade and has several articles published in Brazil and abroad. His professional affiliations include the Brazilian Bar Association, ABA section of international law, Brazilian International Trade Scholars, American Society of International Law, and Customs and International Trade Bar Association. Mr Pupo has recently returned to Veirano Advogados after one year working as international attorney with the trade group of a leading global law firm in Washington, DC.
