Biography: Arbitration

Mr Rodrigo Garcia da Fonseca is a partner of Wald e Associados Advogados, where he began as a trainee in 1988. His practice concentrates in dispute resolution, including both arbitrations and litigation before Brazilian courts and administrative agencies. Mr Fonseca has worked in several arbitrations, both as counsel and as an arbitrator, including domestic and international proceedings under the rules of various institutions, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. He also has extensive experience in arbitration-related court litigation.

He is a member of the ICC Latin American group of arbitration and the vice president of the arbitration commission of the Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro section. He is chief editor of the Revista de Arbitragem e Mediação, and is a guest professor in matters of arbitration at the Law School of Fundação Getúlio Vargas, in Rio de Janeiro and in São Paulo, and at the Superior School of Advocacy, of the Brazilian Bar Association, in Rio de Janeiro. Mr Fonseca has authored several articles in various areas of the law and is a frequent speaker in conferences and seminars in Brazil and abroad. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
