Biography: Commercial Litigation

Mr Tobar is the founding partner of law firm Tobar, Romero & Trejos. He is an arbitrator and member of the lists of the Centre of Arbitration and Conciliation of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota and the Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration of AMV-Macro-and Conciliation and Arbitration Centre of the superintendent of Business Corporations. Last year he was included into the list of financial chapter of DR-CAFTA as a non-national arbitrator. Mr Tobar specialises in issues related to commercial law, competition law, and litigation relating to various aspects of private law.

He was partner and director of the litigation department of the firm Baker & McKenzie. He has served as adviser to several companies in the financial sector, including the Santander, BBVA and BBVA Seguros. He has also been a consultant and attorney for companies in the telecommunications industry such as Telefónica and Comcel.

He has been invited to speak on several occasions at conferences and seminars, where he has had the opportunity to develop presentations of undeniable interest, importance and relevance to the legal community in general.

He received his legal qualifications at the Universidad del Rosario in Bogota, specialising in Commercial Law and Procedural Law, and later, specialising in comparative law at the Complutense University of Madrid.
