Biography: Private funds

Mr Landa is a partner in Davis Polk's investment management/private funds group. He advises a wide range of clients on the development, formation, marketing and operation of private investment funds, including private equity funds, hedge funds, hybrid funds, real estate funds, secondary funds, funds of funds, fund and advisory platforms, and asset allocation products. He also regularly provides regulatory and compliance advice to his private fund clients.

Mr Landa advises private fund managers in connection with compensation and profit sharing arrangements. He also advises clients in connection with structuring and executing private equity, structured equity and public market transactions as well as acquisitions of investment advisers. In addition, Mr Landa represents several large institutional investors investing in private funds.

He is listed as a leading fund formation lawyer in several legal industry publications, including: Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, IFLR's Guide to the World's Leading Private Equity Lawyers and the IFLR 1000, Practical Law Company's Cross-border Private Equity Handbook, Legalease's The Legal 500 US, Legal Media Group's Expert Guide to the World's Leading Private Equity Lawyers and Expert Guide to the World's Leading Investment Funds Lawyers, and Who's Who Legal's The International Who's Who of Private Funds Lawyers and The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers.

Representative private fund clients have included Credit Suisse Strategic Partners, Coatue Capital, TPG-Axon, DLJ Merchant Banking, Avenue Capital, Perella Weinberg Partners, Capricorn Investment Group, Alexandra Investment Management, Royal Capital, Trafelet, Kingdon Capital, Magnetar Capital, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan.

Mr Landa joined Davis Polk in 1998 and became a partner in 2005. He graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 1994 and in 1997 received his JD from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He clerked for the Senior Judges of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals from 1997 to 1998. Mr Landa was admitted to the Bar of New York. He is fluent in Hebrew.
