Biography: Franchise

Barbara Kusak is a partner and head of the corporate department in the Prague office of Noerr. She has more than 12 years of experience advising international companies on their investments in the Czech Republic and Central and Eastern Europe and further specialises in franchising and competition law.

She is admitted to practise law in the Czech Republic and Germany, and works in the Czech, English and German languages.

Noerr was the first international law firm to become a member of the Czech Franchise Association, and Barbara regularly holds workshop lectures and publishes on various franchising law related topics. She represents the Czech Franchise Association on the legal committee of the European Franchise Federation.

She has advised various international franchise systems expanding into the Czech Republic as well as local franchisors on all aspects of franchising law, including international expansions and acquisitions. Chambers Europe 2009 refers to her as 'thorough and commercially minded'.

Barbara and the Prague team have been named franchise law firm of the year by various journals, for example, Acquisition Finance (ACQ) 2009, DealMakers Annual Award 2010, Lawyers World 2011 and Finance Monthly Magazine 2011.
