Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Mrs Elizabeth Obiajulu Idigbe is a legal practitioner with over 20 years working experience. She graduated from the University of Benin (1986), and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. She obtained a Master of Law in 1989 from the University of Lagos and also possesses a diploma in advertising from the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).

She is reputed for her expertise in security documentation, debt factoring, insolvency and restructuring, oil and gas law, company secretarial services and general corporate practice.

She started her career with Chike Chigbue & Co (Temple Chambers), worked with the defunct Ivory Merchant Bank, where she rose to become the company secretary and legal adviser.

She is presently the partner in charge of energy & natural resources and special projects in the firm. Prior to this time, she worked in African Petroleum Plc from 2001 – 2010 where she rose to the position of the general manager, HR/corporate services/company secretariat. She left in 2010 to return to the firm.

In recognition of her outstanding performance and contribution in the various fields, she is a recipient of several awards which includes but not limited to the following: the Queen's College Economic 'A' level Best Student Award (1982); African Petroleum Plc Merit Award (2002); APCON Best Graduating in Principles of Advertising Award (2002); APCON Best Graduating Student in Advertising and Society Award (2004); APCON Best Female Grandaunt (2004); University of Lagos Merit Award (2007); and University of Benin Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award (2007), and the Lagos State Ministry of Education Award for her service to humanity in recognition of her work with children with special needs, among others.

Mrs Idigbe is a member of the NBA (Nigeria Bar Association) and of the IBA (International Bar Association) and also a member of Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria. She has attended several trainings including the prestigious IBA conferences held in various countries in Europe, Asia and the USA.

Elizabeth is a great philanthropist of our time who has become notable for her unflinching support to the cause of the less privileged in society through her personal effort and involvement with the Punuka Foundation, where she serves as the executive secretary and member of the board of trustees.

She is an intelligent, articulate and astute lawyer who believes in excellence in all she does. She equally is a passionate and humane person who is moved by the needs of others and would do all within her ability to bring succour to the needy.
