Sumbo's experience in the telecommunications sector cuts across the provision of various legal advisory support; from structuring of finance to corporate restructuring of telecommunications entities, divestments by shareholders; advising on various legal and regulatory issues affecting telecommunications entities and advising prospective new entrants. She recently advised a US-based communications company in connection with the acquisition of controlling interest in the shareholding of a Nigerian licensed communications company engaged in the provision and operation of international data access and gateway services. The scope of legal advice provided included advising on the regulatory regime impacting on the acquisition, procurement of the consent of the Nigerian Communications Commission. She also advised a US-based public multinational corporation that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of products and services predominantly related to computing in connection with the provision of software in Nigeria.
She continues to advise corporations such as Nokia Corporation and MTV Networks Africa and Europe on various regulatory and compliance matters.
Sumbo obtained a Bsc Econs (Law and Politics) from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 1989 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990. She is a member of the International Bar Association and the Nigerian Bar Association.
