Biography: Corporate Immigration

Adekemi Sijuwade is a partner and head of the immigration practice group at Advocaat Law Practice, a leading commercial and energy law firm in West Africa. She obtained her first degree (LLB Hons) from Kings College London, University of London, and also holds a masters degree (LLM) from the University of Southampton. Adekemi was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999, and immediately started her legal career as an associate with Strachan Partners in Lagos.

Following her call to the Bar at Lincolns Inn in the UK, in 2001, Adekemi worked as a legal counsellor with the Immigration Advisory Service, acquiring extensive training and experience in immigration law, whilst frequently representing clients before the immigration courts. Upon joining Advocaat in 2005, she spearheaded the creation of the immigration practice group and has since expanded the scope of the group to include complementary areas of law, including employment law and relations.

The author and co-author of various papers, Adekemi continues through the firm, to provide client focused immigration advice to both individuals, and Nigerian based subsidiaries of high-profile companies.
