Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Mr Etigwe Uwa SAN was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990. A law graduate of the University of Lagos, Mr Uwa worked in the chambers of Sofunde, Osakwe, Ogundipe & Belgore, and F O Akinrele & Co where he headed the litigation and arbitration departments of the firm at various times. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and was in April 2010 conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Mr Uwa acted for the Federal Government regarding several matters arising out of the winding up of Nigerian Airways, Nigeria's defunct National Carrier including restructuring 4 of its subsidiaries. He has also acted for several creditors and debtors in insolvency and liquidation proceedings in Nigeria. His firm, Streamsowers & Köhn, won the CorporateINTL Insolvency and Restructuring firm of the year award for 2010.

Mr Uwa drafted the Nigerian Civil Aviation Act 2006 and Nigeria's declarations regarding the domestication of the Capetown Convention.

He has also acted for the Ministry of Aviation, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Delta Airlines Inc, Dana Airlines, South African Airways and other numerous Aviation companies.
