Biography • Who's Who Legal Nigeria: Oil and Gas

Folake Elias-Adebowale co-heads the firm's corporate advisory and private equity teams, and is a member of its energy and natural resources team.

Her specialisations include foreign investment, equity and asset acquisitions, corporate restructuring, private equity, commercial transactions and employment matters, and project finance for energy, gas and industrial projects. She has advised on various private equity and foreign investments in the food, beverage, beverage packing, brewing, energy, telecommunications and health sectors, and co-headed the team that advised a group of private equity, DFI and other investors in connection with their acquisition of one of Nigeria's oldest publicly listed banks.

Mrs Adebowale led the teams that advised SABMiller, a South African company in connection with the restructuring of its various investments in Nigeria and with the establishment of a new 500,000 hectolitre-capacity Greenfield brewery with water and other beverage- bottling capabilities in Onitsha, Nigeria, together with the Anambra State Government and other Nigerian investors. She also advised Tiger Brands of South Africa in connection with its acquisition of and investments in companies operating in the fast moving consumer goods sector in Nigeria.

She has presented papers on foreign investment in Nigeria and conducted seminars on employment and labour matters. She has written and co-written articles on private equity, foreign investment, various oil and gas issues and local content requirements affecting participants in the Nigerian petroleum sector and is a regular contributor to the International Law Office's Energy and Natural Resources Newsletter. She contributed to the Nigerian country feature 'Star of Africa' in the April 2012 edition of The Lawyer and co-wrote the article "The Regulation of Private Equity in West Africa - Emerging Trends" with Norton Rose South Africa in the winter 2011/2 edition of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association's Legal and Regulatory Bulletin. She represents the firm on the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association's legal and regulatory council, and sits on the board of several companies.
