Biography: Arbitration

Chief Anthony Ikemefuna Idigbe graduated with a second class upper degree in Law from the University of Ife in 1982, winning the Justice Orojo Prize for the best student in company law. He qualified from the Nigerian Law School with a second class upper degree in 1983. He is the managing partner of PUNUKA Attorneys and Solicitors and member of several professional bodies including the International Bar Association (IBA) and Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, and founder of the Capital Markets Solicitors Association (CMSA).

A seasoned legal practitioner with 28 years experience in advocacy, dispute resolution, capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, insolvency, and many more, Chief Anthony Idigbe was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2000 and has been described as one of the most experienced and well rounded lawyers of our time. He has advised clients on several complex transactions and has represented major companies and institutions in the highest courts of Nigeria. He has advised and worked closely with regulators and clients in the capital markets, investments, insolvency, corporate finance, privatisation, power sector, and other sectors of the Nigerian economy including the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) among others. He is also very experienced in arbitration and dispute resolution and has been involved in resolving a number of commercial disputes on various dispute resolution panels either as chairman, member of panel or counsel.

Chief Idigbe has an LLM (Masters in Law) from the University of Lagos, Akoka (1988); an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Enugu; a diploma in advertising from the Advertising Practitioners Council (APCON) (1999); a diploma in international commercial arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London; several diplomas from the College of Law of England and Wales including: diploma in international capital markets and loans, diploma in international mergers and acquisitions, diploma in international joint ventures, international practice diploma in international intellectual property law and international practice diploma in international commercial law.
