Biography: Internet & e-Commerce

Paulo Brancher has a PhD degree and is a professor of International Law at the Law School of Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC/SP). He has an LLM in Comparative Civil Law (2002) at PUC/SP, and an LLB (1996) at PUC/SP, with studies focused on International Public Law, International Commercial Law and Economic Law, 1996. Paulo is also a coordinator and professor of a postgraduate course in International Law at PUC/SP. He is one of the founding partners at Barretto Ferreira, Kujawski, Brancher e Gonçalves - Attorneys at Law.

Paulo is listed as an arbitrator in the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) Arbitration and Mediation Center, and also in the following international directories: Chambers & Partners Latin America 2009 as a recognised lawyer in telecommunications, media and technology; and in Practical Law Company - Which Lawyer?, as a recommended lawyer in Brazil for outsourcing.

Paulo is a board member of the International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw) and was retained in 2002 by the Brazilian Telecommunications Agency - ANATEL - to draw up and negotiate the necessary private and public international law countertrade instruments for the implementation of digital TV in Brazil. He is a member of the antitrust and economic regulation committee of the Brazilian Bar Association/São Paulo Chapter (CECORE - OAB/SP); associate member of the American Bar Association (ABA), international law and antitrust sections, and a former president of the Brazilian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications Law (ABDI), 2007/2008, and director of the entity from 2003 to 2007 (www.abdi.org.br). He was also a board member of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr) (www.cbar.org.br), 2001/2005.

Paulo is a speaker at national and international seminars and an author of books and articles published in Brazil and abroad.
