Mr Sim has assisted trade ministries in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Oman, the Philippines and Indonesia in implementing laws on trade remedies, rules of origin, free trade agreements (FTAs) and investment. He has participated in dispute resolution proceedings under the WTO, GATT, NAFTA and US-Canada FTA. He has participated in investigations involving extraterritorial application of US antitrust law to Asia. He represents companies in dealing with the formation of the ASEAN economic community.
In addition to his listing in this publication, Chambers Global, AsiaLaw and Expert Guides rank Mr Sim as a leading trade lawyer. He is a member of the panel of FTA advisers maintained by the Singapore government and a visiting associate professor at the National University of Singapore law school.
Mr Sim is qualified in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College in 1988 and summa cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 1991. While attending university, he worked in the office of US vice president George H W Bush and the general counsel's office of the US Treasury Department. He speaks English, Spanish and Chinese.
