Biography: Capital Markets

Bill is a partner in the Calgary office of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP where his practice is focused on structuring, negotiating and financing mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, and advising on public and private securities offerings. In particular, Bill has significant experience leading cross-border transactions, IPOs and offerings of high-yield or investment-grade debt.

Bill's practice also includes advising boards of public companies with respect to securities law compliance and representing borrowers or lenders in connection with syndicated credit facilities, project financings and other lending transactions, including equipment leasing.

After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 1981 with degrees in law and economics, Bill practised law in Toronto until 1986 when he moved to Calgary and was admitted to the Alberta Bar. Bill is currently co-chairman of FMC LAW's M&A practice group and the presiding member of its national partnership board. He is a past chairman of the securities law section of the Canadian Bar Association for Southern Alberta and a frequent contributor to seminars on corporate finance topics.

In particular, Bill has significant experience leading cross-border transactions, IPOs and offerings of high-yield or investment grade debt.

Bill is a partner in the Calgary office of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC LAW) where his practice includes representing borrowers or lenders in connection with project financings, syndicated credit facilities, private or public placements of debt securities and other secured or unsecured lending transactions, including equipment financing and leasing. In particular, Bill has significant experience leading cross-border transactions and offerings of high-yield or investment grade debt. He is also experienced at negotiating master agreements for ISDA-based swap transactions.

Bill has twice acted as lead counsel in connection with project financings recognised by Project Finance (an international Euromoney publication) as the Oil & Gas Deal of the Year.

After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 1981 with degrees in law and economics, Bill practised law in Toronto until 1986 when he moved to Calgary and was admitted to the Alberta Bar.
