Prior to being one of the founders of the firm in 2005, he was associated for 17 years with a traditional Argentine law firm he joined as paralegal in 1988. Upon earning his law degree from Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1990 he became a junior associate, and in 1992 worked in that firm's New York office. He became a partner in 1999. In 1993 he earned a Masters in Law from New York University School of Law.
In 1993 he joined the New York office of Rogers & Wells (now Clifford Chance) as a foreign associate in its cross border finance group, and worked in financing and M&A deals throughout Latin America. In 1994 he was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York. He completed a graduate programme in Oil & Gas Law at Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1994.
He is a member of the IBA (section on energy, environment, natural resources and infrastructure law), the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.
He has lectured in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Venezuela. In addition to Spanish, he speaks fluent English and has a very good command of French, is proficient in Portuguese and has a basic but growing knowledge of Japanese.
