He is a graduate of the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (Mag iur, 1991) and the University of Chicago Law School (LLM, 1993). He pursued an academic career before he moved to the legal profession in 1994. He became a member of the Austrian Bar in 1998. He is fluent in German and English.
Mr Huemer has ample experience in telecommunication regulatory matters as well as in the fields of IT-outsourcing, software contracts, e-business, e-banking and electronic means of payment, mobile business and Web 2.0 applications. He particularly focuses on data protection and privacy. His clients range from large industrial clients, banks and insurance companies, both national and international, the public sector, to medium size and smaller companies in Austria and abroad.
He currently advises several international companies on data transfer privacy compliance issues, in particularly involving HR data, Austrian telecom service providers on transactional and regulatory issues related to the expansion of the fibre optics network, as well as retailers in various industries on consumer protection and privacy issues of online marketing and online sales.
Mr Huemer regularly lectures and publishes on IT, e-business and data protection issues, both in Austria and abroad.
