Biography: Arbitration
Dr Ismail G Esin is the managing partner of Esin Attorney Partnership.Dr Esin graduated from Istanbul University in 1990. He obtained his LLM degree, summa cum laude, in 1991 from the University of Tubingen, Germany, where he also obtained his PhD in 1997. He has been teaching Contracts Law and Real Estate Law since 1992 (full-time until 1996) to graduate students, and Mergers and Acquisitions to postgraduate students since 2001.
Dr Esin has advised various international companies on their dispute resolution matters in Turkey and abroad. Author of seven books published in English, German, and Turkish on mergers and acquisitions and international arbitration, Dr Esin is a frequent speaker at conferences and symposia on international arbitration and litigation, as well as on mergers and acquisitions and real estate investments.
Dr Esin is a member of the ICC Turkish National Committee, the London Court of International Arbitration(LCIS), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the German-Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) and the American Business Forum in Turkey (ABFT).

Biography: Mergers and Acquisitions
Dr Ismail G Esin (born 1967) was admitted to the Istanbul Bar in 1998. Following his graduation from the Istanbul University Law School in 1990, he completed his LLM degree at the Tubingen University Law Faculty and wrote a thesis on The Abuse of cancellation Lawsuit in Turkish and German Joint Stock Companies Law in 1991. He completed his PhD with a dissertation on The Liability of the Seller in Mergers and Acquisitions in 1997. He lectured on Civil Law and Law of Obligations between 1992 and 2004 at the Marmara University Law Faculty and gave graduate lectures on mergers and acquisitions at Galatasaray University and Bilgi University.He has lectured at Bahcesehir University on Financial Models at graduate level (2008-2011).
Dr Ismail G Esin has authored several publications, including the first book existing on mergers and acquisition transactions under Turkish law. He has issued some German publications as well – Internationaler Rechtsverkehr in Zivil- und Handelssachen. Loseblatt-Handbuch mit Texten, Kommentierungen und Länderberichten, 31 and Auflage, 2007.
Dr Ismail G Esin's main practice areas include mergers and acquisitions, dispute resolution and real estate. He has a substantive experience in wide range of M&A transactions. He is capable of handling complex M&A transactions covering privatisations, competition law and real estate in various sectors. In this respect Esin Attorney Partnership has been recognised as the Legal Adviser of the Year in Turkey by European M&A Awards 2010 organised by Financial Times and Mergermarket.
Dr Ismail G Esin has been recommended in The International Who's Who of Commercial Arbitration and in The International Who's Who of Commercial Litigators, 2009.
Dr Ismail G Esin is a member of the London Court of International Arbitration; DIS (German Arbitration Institute); ICC Turkish international committee and AHK (German-Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce). He is fluent in both German and English.
