Biography: Competition Economics

Einer Elhauge is President of Legal Economics, LLC and the Petrie Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, where he specialises in economic analysis of legal issues, especially antitrust, and also contracts, health law policy, patents, corporations, and statutory interpretation. He chaired the Obama campaign's antitrust advisory committee.

Professor Elhauge has testified as an expert witness on antitrust economics in dozens of federal cases, as well as before Congress, arbitration panels, and competition agencies in the US, EC, Korea and Brazil. He has served as an economics expert in cases involving horizontal agreements, vertical agreements, mergers, monopolisation and exclusionary conduct, price discrimination, health economics, patent economics, and contract economics. His clients have included leading entities such as The United States of America, AmBev, Google, Hoffman La-Roche, Intel, Masimo, and Qualcomm, and leading law firms such as Akin Gump, Axinn Veltrop & Harkrider, Berger & Montague, Cleary Gottlieb, Cohen Kennedy, Cohen Milstein, Cravath Swaine, Garwin Gerstein, Howrey, Hunton Williams, Kaye Scholer, the Lanier Law Firm, Locke Lord, McKool Smith, Odrom & Des Roches, Orrick, Pomerantz Haudek, Susman Godfrey, WilmerHale, and Wilson Sonsini.

Professor Elhauge is the author of various books, including US Antitrust Law & Economics; co-author of Global Antitrust Law & Economics, Global Competition Law & Economics, and Areeda, Elhauge & Hovenkamp, Vol X, Antitrust Law; and editor of The Research Handbook On The Economics Of Antitrust Law and The Fragmentation Of US Health Care. He is also author of numerous articles on various topics, including predatory pricing, monopolisation, tying, loyalty discounts, bundled discounts, patent hold-up, disgorgement as an antitrust remedy, the Harvard versus Chicago schools of antitrust, statutory interpretation, corporate social responsibility, and health law policy.
