Biography: Energy

Isabel Lustosa is a partner at Ulhôa Canto, Rezende e Guerra Advogados (since 2005, having joined the firm as an associate in 1997), where she heads the electric energy sector. Ms Lustosa's practice focuses mainly on rendering legal advice on regulatory matters, the negotiation of EPCs, assistance in power sector auctions and privatisations, as well as M&As and financing transactions involving power sector companies. Ms Lustosa also represents clients in administrative and judicial litigation involving power sector issues.

Before joining Ulhôa Canto, Ms Lustosa worked at Lobo & Ibeas Advogados (from 1989 to 1995, as an intern and a junior associate) and the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton (1996-1997, as a foreign associate).

Ms Lustosa received her LLB from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and her LLM from Harvard Law School (with a full scholarship from the Organization of the American States).

She is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association and the New York Bar Association. Besides Portuguese, her native language, Ms Lustosa is fluent in English and French.
