Ms Cosar has considerable experience before arbitral tribunals, including the ICC and ICSID. She currently and recently represented Turkey in three ICSID arbitrations involving the Energy Charter Treaty with a combined alleged claim of US$18 billion, other recent experience includes two major ICC disputes in the gas and petroleum industries.
Ms Cosar's other practice areas include corporate law, banking and financial markets. She has served as lead counsel in numerous corporate transactions, and has advised both private companies and state institutions on several merger and acquisition transactions in recent years. She has also worked extensively on privatisation issues.
Ms Cosar is a member of the ABA, the Istanbul Bar Association and the New York Bar Association, and served as vice president for Turkey in the Union Internationale des Avocats between 1996 and 2002. She is fluent in Turkish and English.
