He has been practising environmental occupational health and safety law for the past 23 years. Sergio has represented foreign and domestic companies before the Mexican federal, state and municipal environmental, occupational health and safety authorities in areas related to air, water hazardous waste, high risk activities, import and export of hazardous materials and waste, permit, radioactive, environmental audits, waste-management plans, administrative litigation, and mergers and acquisitions.
Sergio also has broad experience in dealing with remediation of contaminated sites, due diligence matters, and environmental aspects of real estate transactions, which includes the Export Maquila Industry located through all of Mexico and specifically in the border with the US.
Sergio is a member of the environmental committees of the American Bar Association (ABA), the International Bar Association (IBA), Mexican Bar Association (MBA), Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and past co-chair of the United States-Mexico Bar Association. Sergio obtained a certificate by the National Institute of Ecology, which now is part of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, as an environmental consultant.
He is member of the International Environmental Lawyer's Network (IELN) and is a professor of Environmental Law.
