Biography: Aviation

David Lennox is a partner in the Calgary office of Bennett Jones LLP. He practises in the financial services group with particular emphasis on aviation and transportation law.

Dave has considerable experience in aircraft leasing, financing, acquisition and disposition transactions, as well as personal property security, debt restructuring, corporate reorganisation, syndicated bank financing, project financing and other commercial and aviation law transactions. He acts for airlines, as well as for companies involved in the oil and gas industry and other industries, borrowers, banks and other financial institutions.

Following Air Canada's acquisition of Canadian Airlines in 2000, Dave has acted for Air Canada and Jazz Air on a number of their aircraft transactions. Dave also acted in various capacities for Canadian Airlines and its regional airlines group, including involvement with the debt restructuring portions of Canadian's 1992 and 1996 restructurings, development and implementation of a share ownership constraint monitoring and enforcement system and representation in lease and credit facility transactions.

Dave has an international reputation in the aviation field and has spoken at conferences dealing with aircraft financing and leasing. He is recognised as a leading aviation lawyer by Who's Who Legal and The Best Lawyers in Canada and has received a BV Peer Review Rating from LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell.

Dave received his BA in 1970 from the University of Alberta and his JD in 1974 from Osgoode Hall Law School. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1976 and the Alberta Bar in 1981.

Dave has been active on a number of community boards and committees and has devoted considerable time to coaching minor hockey, baseball and ringette.
