Biography: Product Liability Defence

Mr Andrade is a senior partner in Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP's global product liability division and co-chairs the firm's international litigation and dispute resolution practice group.

Mr Andrade has specialised in international litigation and regulatory law for the past 25 years. He is currently involved in international product liability, class action and consumer protection litigation in Latin America and Europe.

Mr Andrade was a founding partner of Shook, Hardy & Bacon's London office in 1989, practising in the areas of European product liability litigation and regulatory law for two years. He was then seconded for four years to Switzerland, working at the in-house legal department of the world's largest consumer packaged goods company, where he supervised product liability and regulatory work in Europe, Asia and Africa.

Mr Andrade has been involved in the hiring and training of national counsel in countries throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America, and has developed expertise in the civil and common law systems in those regions. He currently practises primarily in the Latin American region and has managed product liability, class action and consumer protection litigation in markets including Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico and Venezuela.

Mr Andrade is a member of the Missouri Bar, the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute. He is vice president of the International Relations Council of Kansas City. He has been an invited speaker internationally on issues relating to class actions, product liability, product safety and consumer law.
