Biography: Patents

Federico is managing partner of Obligado & Cía law firm, and heads the patent and litigation departments of the firm. He obtained his law degree at Buenos Aires University School of Law in 1995.

Obligado & Cia was founded in 1889, and is one of the leading IP firms in Argentina both for prosecution of patent and trademarks and litigation of IP rights.

Federico specialises in patent law and trademark law, with an emphasis on prosecution, counselling, alternative dispute resolution and litigation. He has secured the of IP rights for many companies both in Argentina and neighbouring countries of South America. Federico also has extensive expertise in litigation and infringement actions of patent and trademarks in Argentina, and southern cone countries. He has participated of many of the recent patent cases in Argentina.

He has worked for clients in different fields, such as pharmaceuticals, chemical, biotech, telecommunications and food, etc, advising these clients in Argentina and neighbouring countries.

Federico has been invited to hold seminars, lectures and training courses at universities, conferences and congresses, both in Argentina and abroad, on many aspects of Patent law, Trademark Law, and Competition law in Argentina; and has written on IP-related matters. He is also an active member of several IP-related associations.
