Biography: Corporate Immigration

Shalini Agarwal is one of the founding partners of ALMT Legal. ALMT legal is a full-service Indian law firm that provides advice exclusively on matters relating to Indian law and jurisdiction. Shalini successfully built the immigration practice of the law firm that now services multinational clients globally, assisting with their Indian immigration requirements throughout India. The highly capable team of immigration lawyers directed by Shalini is well regarded for their efficiency, accessibility and international servicing standards. The team assists with FRO registrations throughout India, extension of employment visas, and facilitating entry and exit permits. The team also regularly assists in obtaining PIO/OCI cards in India.

Shalini spends her time between India and London. Alongside handling commercial matters for clients, Shalini heads and supervises immigration teams based in India to assist clients with local procedures. Shalini advises on entry and exit strategy and liaises with clients to ensure that personnel enter India on correct visa categories and complete registration procedures required by law. Shalini also advises on related employment law issues that arise by virtue of secondment to or employment in India, or both.

Shalini is a frequent speaker at international conferences on various topics of doing business in India. As a member of the International Bar Association, Immigration Law Practitioners Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association she regularly speaks on Indian immigration issues. Shalini has published various articles on Indian business issues and has authored the India chapter for a 2008 Oxford University Publication: Corporate Immigration: A Practitioner's Guide to the Global Labour Market. She has also co-authored Rechtsfragen des Indiengeschafts, published by Verlag Recht und Wirtschaft in 2007.

Originally from New Delhi, Shalini pursued a bachelor's degree in English Literature followed by her LLB from the Faculty of Law in New Delhi in 1990. Shalini has an LLM from Cambridge University in International law.
