Alex advises companies on design and implementation of strategic global and regional immigration programmes to facilitate effective movement of resources, whilst ensuring full compliance.
Key areas of work over the last year have continued to be the Points Based System (PBS) rolled out by the UK Border Agency from November 2008. Alex has supported many companies through the Sponsorship Licence application and advises on required compliance, monitoring and record-keeping obligations, together with Tiers 2, 4 and 5 matters and changing requirements. In addition, Alex advises on a range of other immigration matters, including applications on behalf of high net worth individuals/entrepreneurs (Tier 1), family immigration matters, settlement and nationality.
Alex also has responsibility for Fragomen's PBS Consult Team (with its audit function) and its UK Government Liaison Team. She has consulted with key government stakeholders on a number of policy matters and refinements to PBS over this year. She also represents companies in government lobby exercises.
Alex has practised immigration law for 15 years. Prior to joining Fragomen, Alex ran the UK immigration practice at Andersen Legal for five years. She has also worked in a 'big four' accounting firm and in private legal practice at a large London-based commercial law firm.
Alex is a speaker, panellist and moderator at global seminars and corporate events covering multi-jurisdictional and cross border immigration issues including the UK and EMEA. She is also a regular contributor to the HR & legal publications and provides press comment on a variety of immigration topics. She is a member of the American International Bar Association, the Immigration Law Practitioners Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants. Alex is also the co-author of the immigration chapter of The Corporate Guide to Expatriate Employment, Kogan Page, 2009.
Alex is listed in the UK Legal Experts 2010, The International Who's Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers 2010, and the online version of Who's Who Legal.
She is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, and was educated at the College of Law, Guilford, Law Society Finals, 1992, and CPE (Law), 1991, and the University of Kent at Canterbury.
