A law graduate of Utrecht University, Aldo completed the six-year post-doctoral governmental traineeship for the judiciary. In 1994 he was appointed public prosecutor, working in various offices of the Prosecution Service making financial and economic cases his particular area of expertise. He was involved in establishing the National Prosecutorial Expertise Centre for Fraud. Following a professional training in public management, he held various managerial positions within the Prosecution Service.
In 2005 Aldo Verbruggen joined Wladimiroff Advocaten. He is currently one of the firm's managing partners. Aldo has a wealth of experience in handling cases of a financial, economic, tax or environmental nature, including corruption and money laundering. In the field of compliance forensic investigation he combines a unique combination of education and experience.
Recognised for smart out-of-court settlements, Aldo is often consulted by professional and governmental organisations on compliance issues in general, including health and safety issues. When a trial cannot be avoided, he is a reputed courtroom operator.
Used to working in an international corporate context, Aldo has been a successful defence counsel in several high-profile complex fraud cases. Most of his clients are international companies and their executive officers. Aldo teaches criminal law with a focus on financial economic topics at various institutes. He is a popular keynote speaker at seminars and conferences.
