Biography: Business Crime Defence

Gabriel Zaliasnik is one of the founders of AlbagliZaliasnik and director of the firm's litigation department. The firm, founded in 1991, is one of the most prestigious and outstanding law firms in Chile, specialising in dispute resolution and focusing primarily on commercial and penal practices, providing legal assistance to individuals, companies, non-government organisations and domestic and foreign governments.

Mr Zaliasnik's principal specialisation is focused on matters of litigation, antitrust, constitutional law, criminal law, litigation and breaches of intellectual property and extradition cases.

With his great experience in litigation and antitrust cases, the English publication Chambers & Partners 2008 distinguished him as one of the best lawyers in Chile in the category of dispute resolution: 'A brilliant, intellectually agile litigator - he's also an excellent strategist and has formed a good firm.' According to the same publication, in its 2010 edition, Mr Zaliasnik 'is a talented, intelligent litigator with a proven track record'.

Mr Zaliasnik graduated from Universidad de Chile in 1989, and since 2000 he has been a criminal law professor at the same university. Gabriel Zaliasnik is a frequent speaker at Chilean and international conferences. Besides his active performance as litigator, he has been president of the Chilean Jewish Community since 2007.

Mr Zaliasnik is a member of the International Association of Penal Law (AIDP) and acts as its secretary general for the Chilean chapter. He is also a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Chilean Bar Association and the Institute of Penal Sciences.
