Biography: Aviation

Manuel García Pimentel Caraza is admitted to practise law in Mexico. He graduated from Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City in 1986, having presented the thesis "The Subject Matter of the Contract of Insurance and Legal Nature of the Insurance Company's Obligation".

After graduation, he took a postgraduate course in international legal business at the EscuelaLibre de Derecho in 1994 and a postgraduate course on Skills on Entrepreneurs High Management at Instituto Panamericano de Alta Direccion de Empresa (IPADE). He has taken courses and seminars in insurance and reinsurance matters in Mexico, organised by Swiss Re and Munich Re and in London by Beaumont and Son and Clyde & Co.

Manuel is a partner in the law firm of García Pimentel y Asociados, SC, in Mexico City. His practice focuses on advising and representing insurance and reinsurance companies in insurance and reinsurance matters as well as in relation to claims. He has also advised and represented the interests of airlines in claims of third parties. He has acted for insurers and reinsurers in relation to coverage issues in several cases since 1993. In addition, Manuel has participated in claims defending airports, representing the interests of airports and their insurers. Manuel has also acted as arbitrator in insurance disputes and has participated in several arbitration procedures.

In addition to his legal practice, Manuel has written and published several articles on insurance and reinsurance matters including civil liability as well as products liability. Manuel is also a professor at Escuela Libre de Derecho and has been invited to speak at conferences on insurance and reinsurance matters in general.
