David Painter is a senior vice president at Compass Lexecon, a leading economic consulting firm specialising in the application of economics to litigation. Painter specialises in accounting and financial issues in antitrust matters. He has 30 years of experience with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), including 18 years serving as the chief accountant and principal adviser to the Commission on accounting and financial issues relating to its enforcement of the antitrust laws.

Painter has testified as an expert in numerous Federal Court and administrative proceedings and his expertise extends across many industries and market segments. Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, he served as a director at LECG in Washington, DC for 10 years. Painter also has served as a trustee for the Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission overseeing compliance with their divestiture and hold-separate orders.
