Biography: Competition

Ziv Abramovich is a partner in Lapidot Melchior Abramovich & Co and heads its competition extensive practice. Before turning to private practice, he worked for five years (1997 to 2002) in the Israeli Antitrust Authority, rising to the office of head of the enforcement and compliance department and a member of the authority's senior management.

Mr Abramovich has extensive experience, both from a regulator's and a private practitioner's perspectives, in domestic and international implications of antitrust issues. He advises, on a regular basis, leading Israeli and foreign clients on various antitrust matters, and represents them in front of the Antitrust Authority and the Antitrust Tribunal. Mr Abramovich also frequently advises and represents multinational clients regarding the Israeli aspects of international mergers and acquisitions, and is highly recommended in this regard by leading international law firms.

Mr Abramovich holds LLB (1996) and LLM (1999) degrees both from the law faculty of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and has served as a visiting lecturer on antitrust at Tel Aviv University (2002), Haifa University (2005 and 2007) and Netanya Academic College (2006 to 2008).

Mr Abramovich served as vice chairman of the Israeli Bar Association's Antitrust Committee (2003-2007) and is an active member of the IBA (International Bar Association) Antitrust Committee. Mr Abramovich regularly publishes articles and reports, both in Israel and worldwide, on antitrust developments and is the Israeli correspondent of Global Competition Review and the IBA's Antitrust Committee newsletter.

Mr Abramovich was recently invited by the Israeli Antitrust Authority as an non-governmental adviser to the International Competition Network annual conference in Kyoto, Japan in April 2008.
