Effie Vasilopoulos is a partner in Sidley's Hong Kong office and a member of the firm's executive committee. She is also head of the firm's investment funds practice in Asia. She focuses on investment fund formation transactions, particularly the development of innovative investment fund structures and financial products, including hedge funds, real estate funds, private equity arrangements, exchange traded funds including real estate investment trusts, and other publicly offered funds. She also has significant experience of corporate finance transactions involving the listing of fund vehicles, joint ventures, the acquisition and disposal of fund management companies and the restructuring of a wide range of collective investment vehicles.

Ms Vasilopoulos has advised a diverse range of leading participants in the financial services industry in Asia including government investment corporations, multinational fund sponsors and managers, investment banks, trustees, financial institutions, venture capitalists and institutional investors, including intermediaries involved in the distribution of financial products.

Ms Vasilopoulos is recognised as a leading authority in the funds area in Asia, having been involved in a number of ground-breaking deals in the Asia region over the last few years.

Ms Vasilopoulos received her LLB from the University of Technology, Sydney, in 1991 and her B Econ from the University of Sydney in 1988. She is a HK Registered Foreign Lawyer (New South Wales) and is admitted in New South Wales, Australia.
