Susan D Lewis is a partner in Sidley's New York office. She joined the firm in 1977 and became a partner in 1986. Her principal areas of practice include securities and pooled investment entities, including private equity and venture capital funds as well as regulatory matters. She regularly advises and represents clients in domestic and international offerings of public and private investment vehicles including hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, funds of funds, distressed debt funds, real estate funds, business development companies and employee securities companies.

Lewis has worked on a wide range of corporate and securities transactions both in the US and in the international marketplace. Her focus includes the structuring of syndication vehicles in partnership, limited liability company, joint venture and trust forms and as direct ownership vehicles for equity participants as well as ongoing representations of these vehicles in their operation and investments. Lewis regularly represents issuers, sponsors, placement agents and investment advisers as well as institutional investor clients.

Lewis is a member of the Committee on Private Investment Funds of the New York City Bar. She has participated in panel discussions for the Practicing Law Institute and The New York Law Journal seminar series addressing such topics as limited liability companies and partnerships.
