Biography: Mining

Bernardo P Cárdenas M is a partner at Cárdenas & Cárdenas Abogados. He heads the mining, oil and gas, and finance practice groups of the firm. Mr Cárdenas obtained his LLM in Comparative Jurisprudence at New York University in 1990 and graduated from Universidad del Rosario in 1988.

Throughout the years Mr Cárdenas has advised numerous multinational companies working in Colombia in the mining and oil and gas sectors. He has also advised multiple banking institutions on financing projects in Colombia in different areas of the economy.

Mr Cárdenas has advised multiple foreign mining companies in the acquisition of mining concessions and in the development of their operations in Colombia. Mr Cárdenas has also acted as advisor to oil and gas companies doing business in Colombia.

In financing matters, Mr Cárdenas has advised companies issuing capital in different markets or obtaining loan agreements from local or foreign financing entities.

Mr Cárdenas has also advised several financing entities which have provided credit to mining and oil and gas companies in Colombia and in other economic sectors.

Mr Cárdenas is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the College of Universidad del Rosario Lawyers, and the College of Mining and Petroleum Lawyers. His native language is Spanish and he is fluent in English.
