Biography: Mergers and Acquisitions

Jorge Cervantes has extensive experience providing legal and business advice and counselling to multinational and Mexican companies in all kinds of domestic and cross-border M&A transactions. His work encompasses joint ventures, strategic alliances, negotiated acquisitions, spin-offs, leveraged buyouts, privatisations, corporate restructurings, cross-border financing, divestitures, sales and purchases of all kinds of assets, stock, equities and equity-type securities. Mr Cervantes is also active in advising foreign and domestic clients in all corporate, transactional and regulatory aspects of buying, selling or combining companies and businesses across regulated and unregulated industries. His experience in M&A transactions includes privatisations of public entities, international public bids and working with entities of the Mexican government in diverse strategic projects. Mr Cervantes' advice also covers antitrust, project financing and general commercial legal issues.

His work encompasses regulatory and competition law, corporate transactions, M&A, joint ventures and start-ups, project financing and general commercial legal issues.

Mr Cervantes assists clients in all kinds of matters involving structuring of foreign investment projects in Mexican regulated telecommunication entities, mergers and acquisitions of telecommunication service providers, private equity and debt offerings in Mexico and abroad, regulatory issues and financing of telecommunication projects, obtaining all kinds of licences, authorisations or concessions to provide regulated services, proceedings before the Mexican Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) and telecom regulator COFETEL, the General Bureau of Foreign Investment and the antitrust regulator COFECO, multi-jurisdictional projects, communications contracts and vendor financing arrangements, among others.
